Somewhat related to Breakout, Warlords was released in 1980 by Atari. Warlords featured four player battles where players would use paddles in attempt to deflect and catch the ball then release it towards the enemy castle.
The game Warlords was released for other consoles and was also available as an arcade game when it first came out. It was not released for the Atari 2600 until 1981 a year after it was first released on arcade.
Often said to be one of the most popular games for the Atari 2600 and for good reason as having a four player game means you can introduce it to other friends and play together without having to take turns for example.
Like I said above you control a fort and must defend the ball from destroying your fort. You defend by catching the ball and release it towards the opposing player; if it hits the opposing player in Warlords it will take a piece of their fort away. Once the fort has been destroyed the ball can enter and the player will be defeated.
Much like their game Breakout the game was a massive hit for Atari and will be remember for quite some time.
