Created by Quintet and released in 1992 Soul Blazer was an action role-playing game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Enix who is now merged with Square (Square-Enix) published Soul Blazer.

Soul Blazer is said to resemble Legend of Zelda and ActRaiser, more so Actrasiser. You take the role of a deity who is sent by a higher power. His purpose is to help the trapped souls of the world and to defeat all the monsters that get in his path.

You travel to various towns following clues, collecting items and magic while helping the town. Once you release a soul a building, plant or other piece of the town will appear on the map. You can then talk to the person you have saved and either found out a secret or continue on your quest.

The game is side-scrolling and like many other role-playing games for the Super Nintendo is very well made. I always go on about how great the music is for the Super Nintendo and Soul Blazer has a beautiful soundtrack.

Soul Blazer is uncommon to find nowadays but it can still be picked up for a very good price either at pawn shops, thrift stores or even eBay.
