Super Mario Bros in 6 Minutes

We all know we can pass this game in a short time but actually watching it is very cool. Crazy how fast the player moves though the levels almost like he plays the game in his sleep. When I first seen this video on YouTube some people mentioned that it was a bot playing and [...]

Weekend Gamer

Its funny that I have a video game blog and yet I don’t play video games that much anymore. When I was younger I loved playing video games but as I grew older my interests moved on to things like guitars, music, web design, nature etc.

SNES Mod - Portable Super Nintendo

I had a post late last month about a portable Sega Genesis which I though was pretty cool however the games were built into the console. This portable Super Nintendo you can just put any cartridge in the back of it and go ahead and play.

NES turned into a DVD Player

Its about time someone tried this, very neat idea that does not require a lot of work. Basically take your old non-working NES and strip the guys from it and somehow fit a cheap DVD player into the NES body. Many DVD players nowadays are very tiny so this mod can be easy to pull [...]

Website Review - Classic Games Arcade - Play Free Arcade Games

You can never get enough of classic games and finding a site having everything from Pac Man to Donkey Kong, Classic Games Arcade is one site you should really visit. When I first visited the site I had seen many old favorites of mine such as Final Fight, Street Fighter, Megaman and Donkey Kong.

Super Mario 64 for Nintendo 64 Review

When you think about it this game is not really that old compared to many other games I review, this one however deserves an honorable mention. Super Mario 64 was created by Nintendo and released in 1996.

Final Fantasy 4 for Super Nintendo Review

Due to the remake release of this game I though I would do a review on the original. This is my favorite all time role-playing game and Super Nintendo game. It’s so well made, lots of colors, great graphics for its time and the sound track is stunning.

How to collect retro games

This might be an obvious post but I figured I would lend some of my own taticts when it comes to collecting games. There are several stages when it comes to collecting games for me.

Sonic The Hedgehog Soundtrack

You can now get the soundtrack to one of Sega’s greatest games and characters, Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega started the series back in 1991 and first released sonic on the Mega Drive/Genesis, the classic soundtrack and the listings are below.

Nintendo DS styled as NES

People sure love retro gaming, I mean this guy went to the trouble of making his Nintendo DS resemble a NES. The NES as tricky as it is to get it to actually work nowadays has been a very popular item for various gamer mods.

This is post 100!

That’s right VG Retro has so far had 100 posts since early 2008, sure there should be more but we’re usually busy doing other things like playing video games for one. I was talking to my friend who I work with and told him it’s about time I break out Final Fantasy 4 for the [...]

Dragonfire for Atari 2600 Review

I’ve played this game a few times and if you do manage to get a copy of this for your collection I recommend it. It’s one of those classic games we all remember while growing up, I never had an Atari 2600 while growing up as my Dad had an Intellivision instead.Which rocks IMO!
